SUSTAINABILITY & R&D

Sustainability & Research

Responsible by design, developed through research. Our team explores materials, construction, finishing and packaging options to create useful and distinctive textile ideas. Availability and evidence are confirmed project by project.

OUR R&D APPROACH

Research that starts with the product.

Our research and design team studies materials, fabric construction and finishing options to develop sustainable and unique design ideas. Work can include new collections, textures and colourways, with sample trials before bulk production.

We review intended use, target cost, care requirements and buyer feedback before recommending a route. A material or finish is only included after feasibility and sample approval.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL ROUTES

Options to develop or source on request.

These are development routes, not claims that a material is always available or certified. Availability, traceability and supporting documents must be checked for each order.

01

Organic cotton

Discuss sourcing options for organic cotton where supply and buyer requirements align. Certification status must be verified separately.

02

Recycled / regenerated fibres

Explore recycled or regenerated fibre blends subject to material availability and the required evidence.

03

Linen and hemp blends

Review linen or hemp blend constructions for the intended texture, drape and use.

04

Dyeing options

Discuss natural dyes or lower-impact dye routes where technically suitable and supported by the processing partner.

PROCESS RESPONSIBILITY

Practical improvements, verified with partners.

We work towards better water and energy efficiency, less rework and waste, safe-chemical practices, suitable effluent treatment through processing partners, and packaging choices such as recycled cartons or reduced plastic where feasible.

These are areas for review and improvement, not blanket claims of measured performance. Buyer requirements, partner practices and available records are checked for the relevant product and order.

STANDARDS ALIGNMENT

Buyer-specified standards and documentation.

When a buyer requires them, we can discuss alignment with GOTS, GRS/RCS, OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, BCI, ISO 14001, Sedex/SMETA or amfori BSCI requirements. This does not mean REAL IMPEX or its partners hold these certifications. Any certificate or audit information is shared only when verified and applicable to the specific supplier, site, material and scope.

Certificates, test reports and audits are shared on request when available and verified.

DURABILITY = SUSTAINABILITY

Build for the intended service life.

Product life depends on material, construction, care and use. We can discuss wash testing, colour-fastness and durability criteria specified by the buyer.

01

Sustainable fabrics

Compare material routes for the required hand-feel, use and care profile.

02

Unique design & colour

Develop textures and colourways through reference review and sample trials.

03

Performance finishes

Discuss quick-dry, soft-touch or anti-wrinkle finishes where suitable.

04

Packaging innovation

Review recycled cartons, reduced plastic and buyer-specific pack formats.
